The Work Isn’t Always The Work

July 2, 2018

Once again, I didn’t write my usual Friday blog – why? Well, this past week has been crazy busy…sadly not with writing.

Each week I have three days set aside to work on writing, three days set aside for seeing clients, and one day that is technically a day “off” and usually means I catch up on any chores that I didn’t do during the rest of the week.

My first day of writing Cis and I made up a huge white board of all the chores that need to be done daily, three times a week, twice a week, weekly, twice a month, monthy, four times a year… Yeah, it’s a big white board – and it will allow all three members of the household to show what they’ve done, and know what else needs to be done so that things actually get accomplished. That took a bit of time. Cis and I then discussed our next set of plans for our Mahavma Project. I managed to get a few words updated in the dictionary, and we did a little reading.

The second day of writing, my sister and I got new furniture for the library so that we could make it a more comfortable, and inspiring work space. Renting a truck, picking up the furniture, getting it to the house, arranging the work space, and all the clean-up that goes with such a project, took most of the day, and was quite tiring.

The third writing day, we had a big shopping day. We decided that we needed to find a way to save some money and so we cleared space to have a food pantry, got a membership to Costco, and then spent several hours comparing prices, shopping, and setting up said pantry, loading up our chest freezer, and otherwise stocking the house. After which, my son and I prepared over 20 dog meals, and set up stuffing for doggy project toys. By the time we had finished all of that, we were worn out, and it was time for dinner.

On my chore day, besides chores, Cis and I looked at all the things I could try to accomplish during the ten days that she would be traveling, and she headed out that afternoon. I took the rest of the day off. Even though it didn’t feel like we accomplished much for our project over the week, we were both mentally exhausted.

Now it’s Monday again. Here I am, writing a late blog, and settling into my comfy library with four books to read, and a dictionary to continue to put together. I never run out of things to do, and plans don’t always work the way I hope they will, but I go with the flow, and do the best I can with the circumstances that are before me.

Hopefully, I will have many accomplishments to tell you about at the end of the week.

Cyber hugs,

M.A.B
